Wingspan - 30 - 36mm. The forewing is orange brick in colour with two distinctive crosslines. The upper line is V-shaped and the lower line slightly angled upwards towards the trailing edge. The oval and kidney spots are pale orange-tan. The white teardrop at the side of the kidney mark is most obvious and completes a fairly easy ID process. |

Overwinters in this stage and feeds on various grasses such as Cocks-Foot. Drab brownish-grey with darker longitudinal stripes. |
