ADULT Wingspan 25-32mm.  A small wave-like moth with a distinctive shaded crossband across the pale forewings that varies in intensity and colouring. The forewings are somewhat pointed with the leading edge usually similarly coloured to the crossband.
CHRYSALIS Pupates in loose soil.
LARVA Feeds on a variety of plants including Bramble, Dandelion and Traveller's Joy.
BEHAVIOUR Attracted to light.
HABITAT Coastal limestone with shrubbery.
FLIGHT PERIOD June to July.
STATUS Rare resident and immigrant. Restricted to the south coast especially the Isle of Portland.
