ADULT

Wingspan 32-42 mm. A pale buffish moth with distinct white longitudinal stripes and an obvious black basal streak from which the moth gets its name. The hindwings are a dirty grey with a whitish fringing.

CHRYSALIS  
LARVA Overwinters in this stage.
BEHAVIOUR Attracted to light and sugar.
HABITAT  
FLIGHT PERIOD Single brooded. June to July.
