| ADULT |
Wingspan 14-16mm. A pretty noctuid easily identified by the ornately eye-catching markings. The white dagger-like marking, small tear and the obvious kidney mark are diagnostic. The ground colour is greyish-brown and there is very little variability bewteen specimens. |

Pupates in a tight cocoon resembling a seed-pod of the larval foodplant. |

Feeds on a variety of Toadflax including Common and Purple. |
| BEHAVIOUR |
Attracted to light. |
| HABITAT |
Coastal areas especially shingle areas where vegetation is abundant. |
| FLIGHT PERIOD |
2 generations. May to August. |
| STATUS |
Restricted to central and south east coasts. |
