ADULT Wingspan 25-38mm.  A rather pretty moth with a yellowish-straw ground colour to the forewings broken by two pale brown gently curving crosslines. The hindwings are whitish with a grey line running across each.
CHRYSALIS Pupates in a loose cocoon amongst leaves.
LARVA Overwinters in this stage.
BEHAVIOUR Attracted to light.
HABITAT Coastal grassy heaths, shingle beaches, dry grassy areas and saltmarsh.
FLIGHT PERIOD Two generations. May to June and August to September.
STATUS Locally common in southern Britain.
