Wingspan 45-60mm. Despite the similar
Small Elephant Hawkmoth this is an unmistakable species. The pink
background with olive-green stripes is distinct with the head, thorax
and abdomen of similar colouring. |

Black, dotted. Located in winter
under moss or within plant debris. |
| LARVA |
July to September on a variety of plants especially
willowherbs and bedstraws. |
| BEHAVIOUR |
Attracted to light. |
| HABITAT |
Anywhere where rosebay willowherb is
abundant including rough grassland, coastal areas, woodland rides,
hedgerows, gardens and parks. |
| FLIGHT PERIOD |
Single brooded. May to July. Occasional second
brood from August to September. |

Resident. Common. |
