WORM - MULLET IN THE HEAD (released 1999) |
18 tracks of upbeat, skate-esque/punk tempo here as this underrated band achieve their finest hour. There is a carefree joy to this music and each track is an optimistic outcry that gets you merrily joining in with the infectious chorus lines. There are numerous light-hearted moments too as well as down to earth subject matter and the song titles give hint of this with such titles as 'Joe Is On The Alcohol Again', 'Yank Yer Plank' and 'Girl With A Piecing In Her Lip'. In fact 'Yank Yer Plank' is a cracking ditty and so well delivered with bouncing lyrics that it is definitely one of the albums highs. 'Junk Mail' is another fave choice as well as the sobering 'Another Love Song' and the pogoing pleasure that is 'You're A Wanker'. If truth be known you will be hard pushed to find a dud as each track stays in the same vein throughout and contributes to one long cracking listen. This band have put the work in over the years and this was a fairly good seller on the underground scene and for me it still has plenty of gas in the tank to be worthy of forcing a few more punks to part with their money.
