Just what is this Fungal Punk thing all about?

Week in week out music is produced for one purpose - to make money and please an unthinking public. It says nothing, achieves nothing and is nothing. Throw-away trash for some gullible youngster or empty headed noodle to choke on. But sometimes we need this crappy, inane nonsense just to chill and in some ways there is nothing wrong with that. Knowing its crap and treating it as such can keep it in check. But the large, soul sapping amount of this bilge is overwhelming and the real spirit of what music should be about is kept underfoot. For me music should have blood and guts and say what needs to be said. Good tunes, lyrics and most importantly attitude are vital ingredients as well as an enthusiastic abundance of spirit. Be it rock, blues or reggae - the music needs a soul.
Punk rock has given me untold pleasure since the late seventies and is the main reason for this site. A whole underground movement is established and is brimming with a fantastic diversity of angst ridden sounds never to see the so-called acceptable light of day. Forget your trashy shag - around love ditty's by some well groomed pop idol, this rock says how it is. Fun, angry, sharp, to the point and raucous, Punk covers a whole spectrum of noise and long may it continue. Forget your unwarranted prejudices and what some moronic bonehead has told you - this music is honest and oozing quality - it just needs your attention.
Unfortunately the masses don't seem to regard punk as valid and therefore the whole genre needs constant pushing, especially bands who seem to lack a certain (and in my opinion) unnecessary kudos. Here we have my main gripe and inspiration to try and get some of the so-called lesser bands more established. Punk rock is gutter music for the everyday 'erbert who wants something to relate to! Sadly nostalgia drenched nuts, sycophants, businessmen, egotists and people with personal misguided agendas forget this and the minnows suffer at the expense of the sharks.

Overall the reason for this site is to get people thinking about a few things as regards punk rock that I consider important with the main message being

"GET OFF YOUR ARSE"
