CAP 5-30cm in diameter.  A large mushroom with a tan fibrillose cap that starts convex and becomes more flattened with age. The flesh bruises yellow around the edges.
STIPE Has a skirt-like ring, white and smooth above and scaly below. Bruising yellowish.
GILLS/PORES Gills are free from the stem and start pale before becoming dark brown at maturity.
FLESH Thick and pale becoming reddish with age. Distinct almond smell.
SPORES Chocolate brown, ellipsoid.
HABITAT Both deciduous or coniferous woodland.
SEASON Frequent. Late summer to autumn. 
EDIBILITY Excellent. aaa
