FRUIT BODY Up to 4cm in diameter the black fruiting bodies are disc-shaped with a black shiny upper surface and black felty sides. Always found in groups and also known as Rubber Buttons.
GILLS/PORES N/A
FLESH Dark brown and very rubbery becoming more elasticated in damp weather.
SPORES Dark brown.
HABITAT Preference for felled Oak, Beech or Chestnut.
SEASON Common.  All year round.
EDIBILITY Inedible.  r
