2-4cm wide. When young the upper surface is grey
brown with a white edge. The whole fruit body darkens with
age. Finely downy then smooth and becoming very tough. Grows
in dense overlapping tiers. |

The pores are smoky grey (darkening with age) and very
small indeed. Sub circular/angular. |

Whitish and rubbery. Smells strongly fungoid and
tastes acidic. |
