CAP 10-15cm in diameter.  At first convex with inrolled margin then becoming flattened.  Light smoky grey to subtle shades of greyish brown.  Slightly felty surface which can be slightly sticky and with wavy margin.
STIPE White and striped.  Club shaped and occasionally white felted at the base.
GILLS/PORES Gills are slightly decurrent and greyish yellow. 
FLESH White with a strong acrid odour, mealy.
SPORES White to cream, elliptical. 
HABITAT Both deciduous and coniferous forests.
SEASON Common, autumn.
EDIBILITY Edible but can cause gastric upsets.  a
