CAP 3-5cm in diameter.  Convex then partly expanded.  Whitish buff, hygrophanous and drying almost white.
STIPE Tough and compressed.  Darker than cap and covered in fine white down.
GILLS/PORES Gills are concolorous with cap and are adnexed and crowded.
FLESH Very thin but tough in stem.  No distinctive taste or odour. 
SPORES Hyaline, smooth, ellipsoid.
HABITAT Grows in clusters or close troops in mixed woodland
SEASON Common.  Late summer to autumn.
EDIBILITY Edible but worthless.  a
