Up to 6cm in diameter. The outer covering (peridium) splits into 3 layers. The exoperidium splits in a star-like fashion into five to seven rays. The innermost layer of the exoperidium forms a collar around the main spore producing bag which is brownish and spherical with a prominent opening at the apex. |
