| CAP | 5-12cm in diameter. Funnel shaped with wavy, inrolled margin. Tawny brown, darker towards the centre. |
| STIPE | Whitish buff, woolly at the base. Becoming hollow. |
| GILLS/PORES | Gills are strongly decurrent, starting white becoming yellow-orange then tawny. Narrow and crowded. |
| FLESH | Pale cream to tan, thin. |
| SPORES | Cream, subglobose, slightly roughened. |
| HABITAT | In groups in coniferous and broadleaved woodland. |
| SEASON | Common. Summer to early winter. |
