FRUIT BODY 10-25cm in diameter.  Kidney shaped bracket that starts as a round white and brown ball.  Upon expansion the pale brown upper surface becomes cracked and flaky,  
GILLS/PORES Pores white becoming pale grey brown.  Circular.
FLESH White and rubbery.  Tastes slightly bitter but has pleasant fragrance
SPORES White, bean-shaped
HABITAT On the trunks of silver birch.
SEASON Very common.  All year round.
EDIBILITY Inedible. r
