VERNACULAR NAME: COMMON YELLOW BRITTLEGILL

CAP 5-10cm wide.  Yellow or golden yellow.  Convex becoming flattened with central depression.  When wet the cuticle becomes slimy and can be easily removed.
STIPE White with greyish flush.  Smooth, becoming slightly wider towards the base.  Brittle.
GILLS/PORES Gills start white then become pale cream.  Brittle, adnexed to free and quite distant.
FLESH Mainly white but yellow under cap cuticle.  Brittle.  No distinct smell or taste.
SPORES Hyaline, broadly ellipsoid to globose with prominent warts.
HABITAT Within mixed woods.
SEASON Common.  Summer to late autumn.
EDIBILITY Inedible. r
