FRUIT BODY 3-12cm wide.  Brain like mass of gelatinous reddish brown to brown leaf-like lobes.  Shiny surface becoming shrivelled, crisp and eventually black when dry only to revive when damper conditions return.

FLESH Soft, gelatinous, concolorous with fruit body.
SPORES White, subglobose.
HABITAT Broad leaf trees and rarely on conifers.  Parasitic on crust fungi.
SEASON Frequent.  All year round.
