| CAP: 5-15cm in diameter. Covered at first with fine purple
        scales which gradually disappear to reveal yellow cuticle below. 
        Convex, wide with indistinct central umbo, later flat. STIPE: Cylindrical, golden yellow with red velvety areas. 
      Evenly thick. GILLS/PORES: Pale yellow, thin, sinuate. FLESH: Pale yellow with resinous scent. SPORES: Hyaline, ovoid - ellipsoid, smooth. HABITAT: On dead stumps within coniferous forests. SEASON: Common.  Late summer - autumn. EDIBILITY: Edible. |
