CAP 5-8cm wide.  Fibrous, grey to dark grey with central umbo.  White fibres give a silky grey appearance.  Starting conical eventually umbonate.  Margin fibrillose.
STIPE Whitish to pale grey.  Even and rather brittle.
GILLS/PORES Gills are pale grey, notched and lightly spaced.
FLESH Pale, rather fragile.
SPORES White, elliptic.
HABITAT Coniferous woodland especially with rich soil.
SEASON Common, autumn.
EDIBILITY Edible. a
