| DESCRIPTION | Wing length 8 -11mm. The black stigma, large oblong markings on tergite 2 and the thin narrow bands on tergites 3 and 4 almost confirm the identity of this species.The yellow scuttellum and dark line down the yellow frons add to complete the ID process. |
| BEHAVIOUR | Can be seen in mixed groups of Hoverflies on the flowerheads of Umbellifers and the like. |

| HABITAT | Woodland rides and hedgerows. |
