DESCRIPTION

Length up to 12mm.  A distinctive creature with a sturdy red and black body that cannot be mistaken for anything else. One of our largest homopterans.

BEHAVIOUR Found on foodplants such as Dock, Nettles and grasses and jumps away when disturbed.
DISTRIBUTION Common throughout south of the Scottish highlands.
HABITAT Woodland glades and grassy rides.
PERIOD April to August.
