DESCRIPTION Up to 30mm long these stunning predators are always nice to turn-up with their black violet tinted colours. The fused wing cases are oval and flattened around the edges.
BEHAVIOUR Nocturnal feeders living under loose bark and stones by day. Feeds on other insects and slugs.
DISTRIBUTION Common throughout.
HABITAT Generally woodlands, gardens or parks where there is plenty of places to seek refuge.
PERIOD March to October.
