DESCRIPTION Length up to 21mm.  Variations in markings is slight with the sandy yellow and black markings giving an overall dirty appearance.  The black triangular mark on each elytron surrounded by the oblique yellow bands give the appearance of an eye.
BEHAVIOUR Slow moving and keen to fly if alarmed.
DISTRIBUTION Common throughout.
HABITAT Has a preference for ancient oak woodland and can be encountered foraging amongst vegetation and flowers or near larva amongst rotting wood.
PERIOD Mainly early May to July but can be found at anytime.
