DESCRIPTION: Length between 17 and 23mm. A variably coloured species ranging from greens to browns to even purplish specimens. The pronotum is gently incurved. The female has relatively shortish wings although this is not always the case and the males usually have wings that are up to 3 quarters way down the length of abdomen. BEHAVIOUR: The song is a series of 'chirrups' that last a few seconds each and are repeated at intervals. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout. HABITAT: Short, open grassland with a tolerance of taller swards. PERIOD: June to October.
