| ADULT | Length of body and cephalothorax - 7 - 10mm. A variable species with a dark, distinct V-shape on the abdomen above which there a two pincer like markings. The body colour is a mixture of orangey-browns. The legs are alternately dark and light brown. |
| BEHAVIOUR | Tends to frequent reeds or wooden walkways around small ponds. |
| HABITAT | Frequent throughout becoming more localised northwards. |
| DISTRIBUTION | Almost always around water especially reeded ponds. |
| PERIOD | All year round. |
