DESCRIPTION Height up to 90cm. The leaves of this plant are ovate and are borne in 3 to 9 pairs with a bristle point at the tip. The inflorescence contains 2 to 6 short stalked flowers that are deep pink to purple in colour. The fruit pods are black and hairless.
DISTRIBUTION Widespread and common.
HABITAT Hedgrerows and the edges of woodland are the preferred places that this plant grows.
FLOWERING TIME May to October.
